Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Salem Masschusetts. Probably why he wrote a book about the time period of the puritans and a place near Salem. Hawthorne was earlier named Hathorne, but he added the w to disassociate himself from his relative John Hathorne, a judge in the Salem Witch Trials.
To tell you the truth puritans are uptight extremist who try to not live life and open their minds to the realistic world. Yeah adultery is not ideal but it can be overlooked and at least made sense of. The puritans made sense of things by their religion, following by the book and taking things like adultery way too seriously. I really think they needed alot of open minded people to come through their communities and tell them how the real world is. At least give the younger kids a different view on the world. But no, thats not healthy. Let them live the world of the white board.
